Summer has officially arrived, although it has been steaming hot for the past couple of months. Apparently the sea temperature has already risen to 25 degrees, which is great until you find out that we are besieged by a plague of jellyfish, so be careful! Incidentally the collective noun for jellyfish is not a plague it is a SMUCK, really, a smuck of jellyfish! you just have to find a way of bringing this into a conversation, dont you? Some others you may find useful in the pub quiz - A crash of rhinoceros, a dole of turtles and a troubling of goldfish - you coulnt make them up.
The prevailing wind is straight from Africa and bringing with it official heat warnings and advice on how to look after and protect yourself in the excessive heat. All this in the hope that more foreign visitors will attend.

Today is the feast day of the Virgen de Carmen and is another great "must see" event, the parades finish on the seafront and the Virgin is taken out to sea on fishing boats, with fireworks, beach parties and barbecues, it is something to be sure to catch if you are near the coast.
